I just purchased my first breitling on ebay last night. Tell me what you think. Did I get a good deal? I know this is going to need some service so offer some suggestions. Also, does anyone know how much it's going to cost to replace those "points" on the bezel? Thanks

Well, first things first, it's not a Chrono Cockpit - it's an early Chronomat - mid 80s to mid 90s vintage.

It's tough to tell whether you got a good deal, because there is no way of knowing how much servicing it is going to need, but I think the price is fair. The 'points' are called rider tabs, and they are quite expensive - especially the gold ones (and I believe that these are actually gold rather than 'rolled' (a thick plating over base metal). The good news is that the most expensive is the lumed one that should sit at 12, and that one is still there, but you may still be looking at $150 - $200 - less if they are only filled or rolled rather than solid gold.

It's a nice watch - I like the look of the blue and brown, although some will tell you that it needs a pilot bracelet.
