I'm pretty much a sport watch man really, but I am looking to round out the collection with a nice dressy piece to wear with a brown belt/shoes on a buissness casual work day. I like the Breitling Flying B and Omega Railmaster for their relative simplicity and gorgeous design. The only rule I have is that it must be on a brown leather strap, I would preffer a brown/bronze/havana dial as well.

Any thoughts or suggestion greatly apreciated

Already have three Breitlings, looking to diversify. Plus its way out of my price range right now, that Datora and Bentley not to mension the incoming GMT Master IIc (could not live without a Rolex) were not easy on the ol' bank account.

I do like the Zenith Chronomaster, if they did not have the open heart design it would be a done deal.

I like the heck out of the Zenith Defy Classic.

As a dress watch, I REALLY like the Cartier Roadster!

Can you really get the Roadster with a brown strap and/or a brown dial? What would the cost limit be?

If you neglect the brown, I'd truly vote for a Jaeger, like this one...

For a brown strap and dial, I'd seriously consider two Swedish watches (approximately in the Breitling/Omega range)

Brian,

I'm thinking about the Cartier Roadster XL Chronograph 2 tone as the "bridge" watch to hold me over until the all Gold Bentley. It's pretty impressive and only about $8800 with a good deal. Most dress watches are too plain for me, the Roadster has the sub dials and in 2 tone it has a lot of gold and is very dressy without being boring or too small like a Patek Phillipe

This is a new old stock IWC, a local jewler had it lying around for 12 years!!! Gave me a phenomenal deal on it. Loving it so far, dressy and sporty!

That's a nice piece! Congratulations!

Not that it is brown in any way as first desired, but still it's both dressy and very good quality.

May one ask out of curiosity how good the deal was?

It was 2700 USD. I don't wear gold but they had one that was only 3300 USD. Pretty cheap for a NOS IWC.

I don't know if I like the watch though, after my Breitlings it seems absolutely tiny, and its a MechaQuartz (hybrid).

That said I will probably only wear it for ultra dressy ocasions. And it looks great in the collection.

That was indeed a very good deal!

I have two IWC mecaquartz, a DaVinci and a Fliegerchrono, and I actually wear them now and then - not as often as my other watches and mainly at dressy occasions, but also sometimes on a regular workday. The mecaquartz is very thin/slim, compared to a Breitling, and I can agree with you on the mixed emotions. However, they are nice to have and at least I find the right occasions to wear them.

I do apreciate how well made the watch is, I certinely don't find it boring just rather small. The hands are very nice though!!!

If anyone wants the two left LMK, I think he would ship overseas.

I just love the lines on the Cartier. Not quite square, not just plain ol' round. The Cartier looks bigger on the wrist than it's 44mm size.

My wife said I should get one, so we would have matching pieces. My wife really likes her Roadster, she just wishes the ladies version was a chronograph.

I've not seen a two tone Roadster up close, but I've seen photos of Roadsters with diamonds on the bezel. All I can say is WOW.
