I had never thought about owning a "fine" watch before last Friday night. Actually I couldn't have named any fine watch except probably Rolex. I had certainly never heard of Breitling. The most expensive watch I had ever owned was a $300 Casio. Then Friday night I was watching Man-v-Wild on the Disovery Channel. I thought the watch Bear Grylls was wearing looked cool and went to the show's forums to see if there was any information on it. Someone had asked that question and a response was "Breitling Emergency Mission." I Googled Breitling and found their website where I was immediately hooked. The next link on Google was this site where I spent all Friday night reading the articles, glossary, videos and these forums. I had checked the Breitling site and saw the nearest AD was 0.5 miles from my house. When they opened at 10:00 a.m. I was there. By 11:00 I had walked out wearing an Avenger Skyland SS (decided I didn't really need the Emergency) and knowing what it feels like to have a fine timepiece on my wrist. How did I live with old rubber bands for so many years? From never hearing of Breitling to refusing to take mine off and planning my next one - all within 12 hours :D

Wow that's a pretty swift turnaround from not knowing the Breitling name to owning one! Now you've just got to be prepared for wanting to buy one every six months or so (or more often if you can afford it!!). Welcome aboard. :lingsrock:
