Greetings all,
Have been doing some background reading on the forum for a couple of weeks, and have finally registered and here is the first post.
I arrive (like a few others I recongize  )from a few replica websites; a couple of years ago I was considering getting a Tag aquaracer, but just kept considering it. Then I got a random spam email about replicas, and that got me online looking for reps. Eventually, like some here, I got a replica of the Breitling Chrono Evo. And to be honest, I am pleased I did. It opened me up to the big world of watches, and put me right off getting that Tag. Wearing it while looking at the Aquaracer in a shop window not long after I got it, the Breit just seemed like a more substantial watch. (BTW, this is the 7750, top quality rep, not some $20 canal st type).
Anyway, if you are still reading and not flaming me in a reply  this sparked my interest in watches really. Had I got the Tag, I would have had my genuine watch, and that would have been that. But the time spent on replica forums has got me right into watches now. Shame I don't have the income currently to be buying a new genuine every week. But I did get a few more reps, but now it was on a mission to find the 'right' watch I wanted to spend the money on as a genuine. So for about a year I have bought a handful of reps trying to figure out what to get. Got a couple of panerai, a rolex, a VC, but still no luck in finding the right one. Which has brought me back to the Breitlings. I had been thinking about a planet ocean for a while, but now am unsure - I like the polished bracelet too much to go for one I think. Now seeing the new superocean heritage has got me thinking that may be the one I am after, but still thinking.
Having had the panerai, I like the sandwich dial of the 111, but on the other hand I realize I need a date. Tried an automatic which had a date, but it just didn't say to me 'I am the one'. The VC I decided pretty fast was just too small, and the rolex ended up feeling too small also - and the bracelet just felt too rubbish - my understanding is that is how the real ones are supposed to feel.
Anyway, after all that, here I am, although still thinking about what to get, I am pretty sure it will end up being a Breitling in the end, so have arrived here. My aim is get one for my 30th, which is towards the end of the year, so although I still have time, it is starting to run out a little.
I will likely lurk more that post, but rest assured I will likely visit on a regular occassion.

Welcome aboard.

Go try a few on if you have an AD in you area, do some research and pull the trigger! Several nice pieces out in the marketplace.

Welcome to the forums, glad you joined and are planning the purchase of a genuine Breitling. We'd love to see pics when you get it!

Welcome aboard!

I would definitely recommend going to a dealer and trying several on. Take your time in the store, keep the watch on your wrist so you can get used to how it looks and feels. Chances are one will speak to you. Good luck, and enjoy the process!

I agree with the comment above, your AD is the place to go. Spend plenty of time looking and trying them on (That's my favourite bit!) He/she will be happy to answer any questions as well.
The good thing with the Ling is that you can mix/match your bracelet/straps as well. If you are going to do that, it usually makes sense to order with a bracelet and buy a strap, works out cheaper and you should get a deal if you order both together

Thanks for the welcome guys, and I will stop by a few AD's when I am in the city next. With the release of the new Bentley GMT, though, it is one that says 'hey, pick me!'. No too sure about the integrated strap system, though. Also wonder what the waiting time will end up being to buy one once they hit the shops...

Hi Phaedo

Your story of how you got to looking at a Breitling is most interesting. Something I had not considered - but makes some sense. I am sure there are many more that saw or tried a replica....and got the itch to get a real one....welcome aboard....and when you get your first one.....we all need our fix - which is pics, lots of pics.....TC :D

Hey phaedo, your story rings a bell! My first B was from Canal St, NYC!

The EVO rep is cool but you can't beat the real thing!

Get yourself down to the AD and try the Super Avenger.

:welcome: :woohoo: :lingsrock:
