8808 is an automatic watch with crown on the left.

Could just be a wrong caseback, but it does make you wonder what else is wrong and call into question the integrity of the seller.

There are quite a few similar watches on various sites (note: some might be the same watch) that have a similar Navitimer dial configuration but with a caseback stamped 8808, and more tellingly all have the Chrono-Matic ground out. Interestingly, some show signs of the case once having had a crown tube on the left, although they all have the more traditional crown and pusher layout now.

So what is going one here? Are these a batch of assembled watches made at the the end of the Leon Breitling era, although the serial number would date them to the mid-1970s rather than the end of the 70s? Or are these a batch of Franken watches that have fooled a number of online sellers?

I know nothing about these arcadelt but my immediate reaction when I saw the original post was the former - that for whatever reason Breitling used 880i casebacks. It was the scratched out chronomatic that made me think so. My gut tells me that this left the factory like this. Again I proclaim ignorance so would be interested to hear from Fred or others.
