Hi, I was told this bracelet is from a 1950’s 806 Navitimer.
Seems newer to me but I really don’t know. Any opinions on it?
Thanks!

Do you guys ever wonder why 98% of these bracelets looks brand new, when Milanese bracelets wear out so easily ??
Show me just one well used / patinated one.
We see these with different makers stamp, I don’t recall to have seen a Brevete HC before, and all of them have the same upper B part.

Imo most of them was made in China yesterday, and the ones that wasn’t, has been put together with / from parts made in China yesterday.
How difficult is it to make upper part with a B, and fit them on whatever.

We have had this discussion a couple of times before, I am aware that a few guys disagree with me, and I’m fine with that.

Show me proof that Brevete HC supplied Breitling back then ....!!!

We know for sure that Moblot supplied them with Mesh.

I have an original mesh, but the construction of it looks nothing like the images with the B branded buckle. Mine says "Transocean" across the keeper loop, and you may recall that the Superocean 1004s also have "Transocean" stamped on the movement. The clasp is more akin to a metal version of a leather strap. So agreed that Superoceans/Transoceans had mesh and they appear in advertisements, but that doesn't translate to explain the existence of the one posted at the beginning of this post. The actual mesh pattern on mine is much more refined/fine compared to the one posted above, and the lug width is also 19mm so you’re not going to find an original strap from a 1004 anyway with 20 or 22mm ends.

well, we were clearly talking about the folding clasp mesh bracelet for the Navitimers here - there is ZERO doubt regarding the „mesh strap“ tang buckle bracelets mounted on the 1957 SuperOcean and TransOcean

so Bill, still waiting for your claimed catalogs and advertisements.

well, I can prove my claim re the SuperOcean easily, if need be w/ a dozens ads & catalogs; this is the launch catalog from 1957.

Kurt & I have often discussed the folding clasp mesh, we disagree re originality, as I've received my first one on a NOS full set ref. 2105 - but there are NO catalogs & advertisements that prove my position - and I'd be very surprised if any would "pop up" now. One of the POTENTIAL explanations would be that these were made on order for the Japanese market, that's where my 2105 came from and where many of these bracelets can be traced to - but there is NO proof whatsoever for this theory.

I might have read it wrong, but i thought the implication of the discussion was that the buckled clasp ones were found on the superoceans, and I was just trying to show that they were a different style.

The Chinese fakes are usually poor copies, not entirely made up to fit American sizes

The ones I talk about, are indeed poor quality, as I have held a couple of them in my hands, and with regards to “fit American sizes”, trust me - the Chinese would make them fit the whist of the ones with money.

yes, they are. say the catalogs, archives and photographs used for ads, a dozen or more of examples I have held in my hands. really have no idea what you want to “establish” here.

I’ve answered that question. launched 1957, manufactured until 1962.
no, I don’t “believe”, I know.
