I am a newbie - is this real or fake? I like the looks of this watch and wonder what the value is and what it would take to restore.
I've spent hours researching and closest I can find tells me this is late 1930's-early 1940's Chronograph Venus 170

luminous hands
not working
no marks on movement
Stainless steel case
388411 on case back

found with other WW2 military items
Pontiac Made in USA bracelet

Any information about the style and authenticity you can provide is appreciated!

I don't like the Breitling script on the dial and since these often came with unbranded dials it's an easy add. Need pics of both sides of the back and movement to be sure.

Thank you for your reply. I have added photos of the case and movement. Would love opinions!

I am of the opinion (and have been since the original picture) that the watch is perfectly correct as a pre-ref.

Thank you all for your time and replies. I would love to wear this - Does it warrant restoration? With an older piece like this, what is my best choice for proper repair/restoration?

Appreciate your feedback!

would cosmetically leave it untouched, just have it serviced.
