Most probably a second ref number added for reallocation purpose of the case. Nothing wrong with that to my eyes...

Ok so it is a 786 rebadged as an 801.

movement should be like this if it was an 801.

no "rebadged"! we see those double references stamped on quite a lot of early/mid 1940s cases, where multiple models shared the same cases - in most cases some leading additional numbers are stamped before the "unused" ref. no.

re that movement pic - this is an early Venus 15x/17x bridge used in the very early 1940s before B moved to the v-shaped bridges, so could be on an early 786 or 801.

Guessing the crown wheel is a replacement then.
