Hey Guys,
I am planning on buying a vintage Breitling and wonder if there is a trusted / certified service provides in New York that can authenticate the watch for me.
Any recommendations ?

No movement picture but seems to be 100% correct. You will want to see movement and the serial and reference which are blocked. But looks perfect.

I asked for all those.
They claim the serial is 55412, which seems to be odd, since all serial number I've seen has at list one additional digit.
Its 1940 watch though, and all I could find is serial numbers for 1944 and on. Does that serial number make sense ?

They are probably misreading the serial and it's a just-before-1944 watch. Does it have 784 reference?

it does and fits - 1943 case production, case design fits the early steel models.
would like to see a movement shot, but all checks out nicely for now

What's the correct strap size for a 784? The 18mm fitted in the pics looks way too small.

Be aware that it is, by modern standards anyway, quite a small watch at 35mm. Make sure you are comfortable with that size before you part with that much cash!

Hi Guys,
I have just got those 2 pictures of the movement and the back side of the case.
Reminder this is the 784 Datona from early 1940's
So what do you say ? Is it real ?

there was no question the watch was real - I just hoped nobody incorrectly added a branding to the chrono bridge ;)

all perfectly correct here and no "creative" modifications.
