Hello,

I purchased this watch from a dealer that is generally knowledgeable in fine watches, but I was a bit concerned about this particular watch. I don’t know too much about Breitling and am not sure that it is genuine. Here is what I know:

• The watch appears to be chrome plated.
• “BREITLING 1911” with the “B” logo is engraved on the back.
• It also says “Stainless Steel Back” on the back outside cover
• On the inside back cover, there are the numbers “921305.”

I have attached photos of the front and back cover (it’s a snap open back”). I have also attached photos of the movement. I would be grateful if you could tell me if this is a genuine Breitling and, if so, the model of the watch and movement. I am NOT asking for you to value the watch!

Thanks so much in advance!

Thanks so much Fred! Can you tell me any more about it, model, movement? I didn't recognize the movement from any photos of other Breitlings of the period.

Thanks again!

John

WatchFred was kind enough (in another section) to tell me that my Breitling is real, but I don't know much about it. Here is what I know and I've pasted some pictures below:

• The watch appears to be chrome plated.
• “BREITLING 1911” with the “B” logo is engraved on the back.
• It also says “Stainless Steel Back” on the back outside cover
• On the inside back cover, there are the numbers “921305.”

Thanks in advance for your help and comments!

John

Similar dial, but different reference.

Thanks for the link! There do seem to be subtle differences. The "bowtie" in the linked watch is more pronounced than mine and the back has the same data but is certainly different. Would have been great to see the movement.

Do you have any ideas about the specific movement model on my watch?

yes, it is a Venus cal. 188
I would have answered your question in that other thread ;)

it is what it says on the caseback, a ref. 1911, case was manufactured in 1959 - the 1191 is part of the entry level model line, cases are chromed base metal.
