Was surfing eBay and came across this "806". I'm curious to know if this is an early fake, some before unknown (to me at least) transition model with numbered indices but white subdials, or a modification? Some of it looks correct, but even the model and serial number stamps look different from what I have seen before.

for me it's wrong dial, wrong hands, wrong slide rule, wrong pushers, wrong (fake) caseback, bezel and case might be legit but the back of the case where the caseback attaches looks odd, so i'll call that wrong too just to emphasise the point. The case has an odd "pitting to it" and looks to have been cast. Lots of exchanged parts in the movement and jewel missing on the bridge. So, bezel maybe OK?

They say "buy the seller". This one has 98.9% feedback of 4381. Someone could get duped by a reasonably well regarded eBay member.

I saw this one too. Indeed an ugly fake one. Hopefully potential buyer will do some research before buying...

80% of this watch is wrong !
Case looks like a worn GP case replated to imitate stainless steel. Caseback looks like fabricated from a blank one .
Dial and sliderule look like poor reprints.
Hands are not matching with beads of rice bezel
Cal.Venus 178 has been repaired with non matching parts .
Price corresponds to a 100% good watch and seller corresponds to a 100% bad seller . 100% reasons to avoid and blacklist.

How do you come to that conclusion? I agree that the watch is wrong, but the sellers feedback is petty good. I would completely understand if some uninformed person bought from him thinking the watch was genuine.

It's pretty much always that way. You can only leave feedback if you purchase something, and you would only buy it if you thought it was ok. There's no way to leave feedback without purchasing saying - " this guy sells fake watches" . In that way feedback needs to be taken with some care.

In the description, the seller presents the watch as his daily since 12 years, etc . Would you buy a used car from him based on such description? I should'nt .
Just see seller's other items, he has many spares. When you put spares together you get a complete watch ... as far as parts are perfect and matching , no problem, but as far as you put together what you have in your box without carrying full respect of original version, you just get a bullsh.. like this one .
