I was just PM'ed about this watch to give some input but I concur with this assessment by Fred:

-: hands seem to be from an AVI 765
-: case looks correct for a non-AVI 765 from 54,
-: dial definitely refinished.

far from correct, I'm afraid

the dutch court system is crap but dutch law does have a buyer protection where any item bought from a professional seller can be returned without reason given for a full refund with a certain period of time
I would start with sending a snail mail letter (signed on delivery) to the seller demanding he refund you and that you will send the watch back as you have 'buyer protection' and can at any time call on the following article "Boek 7, Artikel 46a Burgerlijk Wetboek" that allows a private buyer to withdraw from any purchase made 'from a distance' from a professional seller (ie not in a store)

who is the seller ?

Seller in Amsterdam is "LOST BUT FOUND"...Rob Morenburg
They want me to return the watch first which I absolutely refuse because I have no guarantee I would ever get my money back afterwards.

?

Surely returning the goods would be a pre-requisite to any refund? If you don't return the watch they have no guarantee they'll ever get their watch back; and it's much easier for an individual to disappear than a company.

Sorry to hear about this bad experience.

Courts/police do not put much faith in opinions of others that come from the internet. They cannot really see the person making the opinion to judge whether the person is credible. Opinions of so called "Paid Expert Witnesses" are considered more credible, but the expert usually must be someone who makes his living giving such opinions and testifying in court.

One credible and cost effective way to show this one is not authentic might be to locate examples of what a real one looks like in published references. I am thinking of Benno Richter's book, "BREITLING: The History of a Great Brand of Watches 1884 to Present" for example. (Amazon.com or your local dealer). Printed catalogs by auction houses that show an authentic version of the item might also be useful. (Check the websites of Christie's, etc.). Lay the imposter next to the picture of the real thing in the book and the viewer will see that you are right.

Best of luck with it!

Agreed, and extremely offensive given that there is only one comparison that I can assume is being made.

yes, either extremely offensive or extremely thoughtless, though additional classifications might apply, but would be outside what I consider acceptable forum netiquette.

very tasteless without doubt

almost sorry I tried to help the OP with his sad, pathetic purchase.

that seems normal business practice to me
I assume you paid first as well, and then received your watch ?

Roff I do apologize if i hurt your feelings with this bad joke but you do seem to take yourself a bit too seriously IMHO.

How you could I have used your comments in a legal procedure when I don't even know your name and address and wheter you are a qualified watch expert...

The fact that you don't even realize this and wrote what you wrote and these warnings made me wonder what kind of man you were...thus my rather tasteless joke.

Thanks to all for your kind help. i will keep you informed of the lawsuit result if there is one.

Why is it so many in this life cannot just make an apology and end it with that, instead of saying they apologize and then justifying the behavior for which they are apologizing? There is no sincerity or maturity in that.

"My Dear wife, I am sorry I yelled at you and beat the crap out of you. But you are were nagging me and so I have to wonder if you are just a crazy bitch. Really, what else would you expect me to do? But again, I do apologize that you will be drinking your food through a straw for the next 6 weeks, but it is all your fault. Forgive me, Darling?"

Don't worry sharkman, I think that if I make it clear that I don't want my words used in any legal proceedings that gives anyone the right to compare me with Hitler.

And of course, it is perfectly appropriate to compare anyone to Hitler if you apologise afterwards - that makes everything fine.

I have nothing more to add to this thread.

I wrote to CHRONO24 five days ago to explain them the problem, with a link to this thread.
They didn't even bother to answer me.
Seller "LOST BUT FOUNND" is still one of their "trusted sellers"....
As long as they get the money for the ads every month, Chrono24 doesn't give a shit about people being ripped off :guns: :guns: :guns: :guns:

Seller is "LOST BUT FOUND" in Amsterdam. :guns:

I will go to the police and sue them this week.

Could the most knowledgeable of you also give me their opinion concerning the authenticity of this watch ?

Thanks a lot

Hi from Amsterdam , lost and found is that the name of the shop? Or English translated ? If so , please mail me the name in Dutch , and address ? I might know the person - Martinus .
