Hi, all the guides seem to make this look easy, and to use a pin or toothpick, but I am getting nowhere with my chronomat gmt bracelet.

There is a small recess in the back of the link, but i can not get the springbar to move, and the holes are not on the outside to push through from there, any ideas?

Spring bar tool from cousins or set of precision screwdrivers from diy shop will be much better than toothpick. Be careful with cheap screwdrivers as they made of soft metal and can slip off and scratch the bracelet.

Probably some dirt has gone in to the spring bar over the time. Try soaking it in soapy water or ideally in ultrasonic cleaner. It will work.
Other possible cause might be if you didn't buy the watch from new, and the spring bar was replaced with slightly longer than it should be. But either way if it has gone in it will come out.

Success, persevered with the bergeon and managed it. I've had it from new, so no bar replacement.
