When did Breitling put "1884" on the black bakelite boxes, the 12cm square ones. Did these ever appear within the outer box with the single yellow plane on it as issued around 2000 or did these always have simply Breitling written in yellow script.

Thanks

Les

1884 appears on the lid of the box with my Montbrillant 1903 issued in 2003, but the lid of the box that came with my Navitimer "Breitling Fighters" dated 2001 has just the yellow script. In my years of interest in Breitling watches, I have always associated the outer box with the single yellow plane with the Bakelite box with the yellow Breitling script, and it was the same with a Breitling Premier I sold many years ago. However, I don't think there is a strict allocation, as it may have to do with stock attrition as the move from box type to box type. Breitling may also overlap the issue of different boxes at any time, and their resellers may have used them interchangeably.

Thanks that`s helpful. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has a navitimer box from around 2001/2 to see if I can track down when they changed the boxes.
Somewhere I`ve seen a summary of the box linings changes in the early 2000s but I can`t find it again. Can anyone help with that ?
