Is it possible to put a deployant clasp on this band if I remove the buckle?

Technically yes, but dimensions may be off - tang and deployant lengths.

Is it possible? Yes it is.
Does it look good?
Up to you to decide. Wrists do differ.
I've tried and I'm not convinced but this is what it looked like on my 6.75 girlie wrist.

From the top makes not much of a difference.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll try it and determine whether I like the look of it. Judging by the pics, I'm not convinced either.

Is the 740p/898p the 'proper' brown strap for the deployant clasp?

Checked there already, no listing for the 740p/898p or for a 22/20 brown (croc) strap for use with deployant. I got the info I've found that i posted up here on various other sites.

Sorry, missed the 22/20.

740p is deploy equivalent of 739p, 738p is deploy equivalent of 737p (what Breitling calls gold)
