Well im back for more punishment  I was waiting for Steinhart to get their new 44MM Diver out, that way we can have a modified version for us at a reduced price.

The last two limited edition models where a variation of the pilot and pilot chrono, this time it is going to be a variation of this behemoth:

http://www.steinhartwatches.de/index.ph ... 3&Sel_ID=9

I expect our final cost to be around the 250-300 Euro range, depending on how we modify the watch. It already has some fantastic qualities, like a sapphire bezel ala Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and exceptional depth and proportions, but modifications to the font, color, case back etc could really get the watch to stand out. lets see how much interest we have before we proceed.

It all depends on the polls, but I am hoping for a black dial with blue bezel ala that modified Rolex sub

I would DEFINITELY be up for this IF (and probably only if) there's one slight change to the plan - I'd like to use the Ocean 44 GMT as the base model, as it comes with the 2893 movement which is nicer than the 2824 and has the GMT complication. I just think the standard Ocean 44 is just a bit too much of a Deepsea-Try-Hard.

This in fact -

http://www.steinhartwatches.de/index.ph ... &lang_nr=1

I had a look at the Ocean 44 GMT the other day as potentially a nice beater, so this one get's my vote. And I'm absolutely AMAZED you suggested a light(ish) blue bezel with a black dial (like that modded Rolie) as I was just thinking about that the other day too!

I voted 'maybe' because it does depend on the design, but at the price point I would probably go for it anyway, however I do agree wholeheartedly with Driver8 on the 2893 based GMT.

I voted maybe because of the production models similarity to a Sub/Seadweller. Now if they could pull off a blue bezel or something to really make it stand out as different, that would likely move my vote from maybe to yes.

:yeahthat. A maybe as well, I have too many black watches, so standout colours would be better for me.

Ian.

:yeahthat I keep looking at the pics of it and trying to force myself to like it (while imagining that awesome looking rollie with the blue bezel)...but I think its waaay to homage-y for me.

I'm up for this so i voted 'yes'. I love the look of the DSSD but its out of my price range at the moment and for the forseeable future but that looks like the dogs bolloxs especially for 300 Euros!

Cheers

You're a sucker for punishment Altair  Officially I said maybe however really leaning towards no at this stage. I don't mind the concept however with two Steinhart's in the repair shop at the moment, I'm sure you can understand my hesitation. Maybe I could swap my first LE for this LE

I like Driver's option more due to the GMT hand, something I'm on the hunt for at the moment and while I agree with some of the homage comments, I don't mind the look of that watch at all.

Maybe from me - depending on the final design and if I can convince myself to go for this rather than a Rolex. At least it's not a no at this point! :)
