Also just a quick question? When did we choose on a strap instead of either a bracelet or strap, and an upgraded box, and ordering (2) straps?

This watch only comes on a strap as there's no bracelet option. As far as the other things go, I think they were just offered by Steinhart anyway. Altair can fill you in with the details as he's the only one who's been talking to Gunter.

I guess I didnt realize that bc at the beginning of all this I thought Altair said there would be a bracelet option. Im not trying to be a jerk by any means Im just wondering if possibly a bracelet would be a possibility instead of 2 leathers or something I dunno just a thought

It's a fair question, but the bracelet option was only the Chrono as there's never been a Steinhart bracelet for the Pilot. In fact I don't think I've ever seen a traditional Pilot like this on a bracelet - I know for a fact that IWC don't make one for the BP. (If you check the Steinhart site, you can see the bracelet option on the Chrono only).

That's not to say that you couldn't find an aftermarket bracelet that would fit - the LE has 22mm lugs so you may be able to find something with suitable end links. But commissioning Steinhart to make a bracelet from scratch would cost A LOT of money, and probably just wouldn't happen.

Driver is right, some options are model-specific, bracelet, display back, etc

We opted for the upgraded box once we decided on an LE, so it only makes sense the LE will be more expensive.

I'm sure Altair would never forget you Boney! Just put it down to his recent bout of sickness!

I've taken the liberty of adding you to Altair's original post. :D So that's 10 down, just 5 left!

Just on this subject, I really hope we can see the final design soon! I know for a fact that it includes all the features we all voted on - i.e. slate grey dial, black lume, silver hands (with black lume also), display back, Limited Edition number (xx/15) - plus potentially an additional couple of cool features which really add to it  - but seeing the final "official-proof" mock-up from Steinhart will be great!

RIGHT! Sorry about that Bone-Man! That damn fever! If it is any consolation you got off easy, in the very worst part of my hallucination-inducing fever I reportedly suggested and proceeded to instruct a visiting relative on the fine procedure of inserting a 15.4" laptop up his rectum.

I can just add your name to the list, but how do you apologize for that?

Yes, we are sticking to the design criteria the group has decided on, and the end result is looking very promising indeed! In fact Gunter commented that this would be his best looking Pilot yet and if it was not an exclusive LE, he would go into full mass production! I would not be surprised to see some sort of watered down version with slightly different colors show up eventually.

I do not want to talk about the extra features as they are not confirmed yet, but once anything is solid I will be going public here and I WILL have a pro mock up for you all very soon.

I really am trying to do my best with this project and potential others, so do excuse me if I am a bit short on replies. Work has been piling up and trying to spend some time with the family at the same time.

I have to say that the work that Altair and Driver8 have done on this is amazing - I think people will be very happy with the design!!

Do you guys think that we might need a sticky announcement in the General Watch section to draw attension to this LE and its thread? The polling happened pretty fast and since moving all the threads to a specialized sub group, we might not have informed enough people about the change of ordering one of these. Just curious. Only 5 more people!

The antisapation (sp?) is killing me. I cant wait to see the proof, hear about the "special features" and I cant believe we might actually get our watches around Christmas time.

I was wondering if you were going to say something/were still in Boney! Great to see you back on board.

Sounds intriguing Altair!

Can't wait to see the designs (along with everyone else  ). No doubt they are going to be awesome! Perfect timing for receipt at Christmas as well.

I think we are looking at a bit more than that. The early estimate from Altair was 400-450 euros but the new add-ons (super secret possible functions, nicer box, 2 straps) was likely to add another 80 euros.

So without stepping on toes I read 480 to 530 euros (total from the different thread estimates which, for those of us in the USA would be $713 to 786 as of a minute ago. This most likely doent include shipping and it is not final. Altair and /or Steinhart havent posted the EXACT cost to us yet. The numbers above were just meantioned in the other threads, FYI.

I do not think the Germans have seen such adamant negotiations in quite some time! However I am happy to report that I have brought down the price to a very reasonable......

305 Euros

Thats a mere 453 USD as of a minute ago!

Thats right, we are getting an LE of 15 that is cheaper than the standard mass produced model!

Thats not all, we are also getting the upgraded saphire crystal on the front (domed and double ar vs. flat and single ar) and a saphire caseback instead of a mineral caseback, also talked Gunter into upgrading the finishing and modification on the unitas movement close to Premium levels. UNHEARD of value!!! This watch is worth three times the asking price, at least!!

Oh yee of little faith! Did I deliver? or did I deliver? 8)
