There's not much in it between those models to be honest, but the SO is larger and more iconic IMO, so that's what I'd go for. The GMT functionality on the Colt is neither here nor there for me, and both or more than water resistant enough for everyday use, but size alone would always sway me towards the SO.

PS - Please try to avoid duplicate posts across a number of forums as we like to ensure that answers to threads all stay in the same place. I've just deleted your duplicate post in the Breitling forum. Thanks.

I also think the fact of the colt being the entry level puts me off as well sort of a poor mans Breitling if you like if there is such a thing

Sorry, don't agree with that at all.

It's a Breitling produced to the same standards as anything else in the Aeromarine range.

They are the least expensive models in the least expensive range, but I wouldn't suggest that the Colt was entry level, any more than I would describe that the Super Avenger was 'inferior' to the (say) Chronomat because it is from the Aeromarine range rather than the Windrider range.

hmmmmmmm OK I get what you are saying but In my eyes although a colt is a proper Breitling it always seams to me that people look down on it as the cheapest way to buy into the brand,I am not trying to be offensive to you or anybody else but I think with them being the cheapest way into the brand and being quartz (well the non autos at least) that people will automaticaly dismiss them as they dont want to be seen with an entry level watch, rather like cars here in the UK you can buy a really cheap VW Golf for around £13,000 brand new but to get one with alloys, air con and all the nice bits costs up to £21,000 its still the same car just fully loaded and its the same thing with Breitling I dont think most people will want to own the lowest in the range why do you think people buy Golf GTIs not becasue they all want to drive about at top speed or anything like that or even the acceleration or anything other than its just that they are perceived as more desirable then the base model.

Do you understand the logic behind my reasoning even if you dont agree with it. :lingsrock:

You also have to remember that for a lot of people, the Colt is chosen because of its size, and not because of its pricing. My Colt GMT was my first Breitling, and love it just as much as my Navi World. I don't think of it as being "inferior" to the Navi, just different.

I did look at the SO before I got my Colt GMT (or rather, before my wife bought it for me), and I personally liked the Colt GMT better. I liked the size, the weight, the simplicity of the face, and definitely prefered the silver numbers ont he Colt over the stenciled numbers on the SO. Also, if I recall correctly, at the time the numbers on the SO bezel were black, which I didn't like at all (am I remembering that correctly?). The fact that it was a little less expensive was just icing on the cake.

I couldn't disagree more. I have the Colt Auto II. Love it more than my IWC and the Chrono from the Windrider line (which I sold meanwhile). It's a simple, understated, yet masculine and rugged watch, functional, great dial complexity (far more complex than the standard SO), great contrasts throughout the whole visible surface of the watch. I really like this watch very much. Entry level? Nooooo.
