I was thumbing through Men's Health yesterday and I saw a Breitling ad which featured the same theme as the John Travolta ads (Pilot in gear standing by aircraft), but it was the pilot of a SWEET P-51 Mustang and, more importantly, it was not L. Ron Hubbard worshiper John Travolta. I guess all the massage parlor boys coming forward to haul him out of the closet soured the relationship with Breitling? I think it was a smart move by Breitling marketing dept.

Breitling has not "dumped" Travolta, but they are holding back a little bit at the moment, until the matter is either settled or forgotten. It is not easy for a marketing division, to loose 2 testimonials at the same time. (Flying fish situation not yet clear...)

What's the rumour with Nitsche then? I've not heard anything.

Still seems unclear, but Nitsch declined judges from the AIDA (sanctioning body) for his successful world record dive supposedly because of "a sponsorship issue with Suunto". Maybe Thomas has more, but ultimately the absences of the judges makes the whole record unofficial.

The problem was not the sponsorship, but Nitsch has spent the last weeks in a greek hospital due to problems with his body after the dive. Details can be read on his homepage (www.herbertnitsch.com) or wikipedia (only german or french, no english versio available).

I just got the Breitling Newsletter saying that they continue to work together with John Travolta. They also present new ad pictures shot in Mojave showing Travolta in front of a P-51.

Apropos Herbert Nitsch - it is still not clear how grave his condition is and if he will ever fully recover. There have been some news on austrian websites about one month ago and nothing more since then...
