Hey Guys, Have my first Breitling. I got the Navitimer, black face with the lines at the hours instead of large numbers, sorry no picture yet. One problem - When I try to line up the Bezel/Slide Rule perfectly, it seems to be about 1/2 to 1 tick mark off no matter what. For instance, if I line up the two Red 10s exactly, all of the other numbers are about 1/2 tick mark off when comparing the outer number and inner numbers. Why doesn't it line up perfectly? Should I send it back for adjustment, or am I just OCD? Thanks in advance, New_Guy |

Ok thanks, that makes me feel better. I thought mine might be messed up, as I figured it should line up perfectly if they really expect people to use these for important calculations, like when flying. It's kinda suprising to me that this is normal. |

My slide rule lines up perfectly. I would have insisted on a replacement if it didn't. I'm picky that way. |

I too noticed that when I line things up, 20 through 25 on the slide rule (down in the 6 to 8 o'clock area) don't exactly line up perfectly. Looks to me like it is off slightly by a hair. I never really paid much attention to it until another member PM'd me about after he saw pics of my Navi that I recently posted, as he noticed the same issue with his Navi. I guess for the most part, it doesn't bother me too much. I'm not a pilot - it's not like my life is going to depend on fuel consumption calculations that I'm doing on my wristwatch. On the other hand, you pay enough for these things that there is an expectation of precision. But, based on some of the posts above, I'm not confident that I'd be able to find a perfect one. |

I have several watches with slide rule scales, and most are pretty close to matching up. However, I just pulled out my actual E6 slide rule that I used when I was a student, and it is off just a little as well! I think you are good to go. The real test is if you use the slide rule for actual calculations. Time, speed and distance problems are the most usual, and if the result comes out accurately, you should be good to go, even though it may look a little off when not in use. The Citizen Nighthawk that I am wearing today has the same issue...depending on where the scale is rotated, differnt parts of the dial line up. I have used this watch a lot for actual calculation in the plane, and it has always been spot-on. |

I'm actually surprised to read that this misalignment is a common thing among navitimers. It makes me feel the whole "instruments for professionals" is not taken seriously. Is this something that can be addressed or you are stuck with the slide rule misalignment if you did not see it before you purchased the watch? |
