I recently purchased a used seawolf and the warranty card is marked 2002. The previous owner says he was going to get the watch serviced but never ended up doing it.

Since it has been a few years I'm wondering if I should send it in to get serviced... how much would they probably charge me?

Has anyone just had a local watchsmith service their watch?

I'm just worried about sending the watch in and getting an estimate for $800USD +

After 7 years, a service is probably overdue. Like a car, regular services keep it running longer.

From the FAQ...
"What is the cost of a complete Breitling servicing?
The average cost of a full Breitling service can run around $500 USD for a chronograph watch with average turnaround time around 4-8 weeks. Non-Chronograph watches will be much less, around half that price."

Any qualified watchsmith could service an ETA 2824 (Cal 17) movement but only Breitling will be able to send it back rated to 10,000 feet!

Personally, I would advise going the official route.

And a +1 from me.

Also, after 7 years (or close to it) I would get the servicing done now. Even if it's staying within COSC specs it's clearly in need of a little TLC, and you don't know how well it's been looked after - better safe than sorry.

Especially if you plan to get it wet!
