I was wondering if anyone could advise me with regards to whether Breitling ever used Japanese movements.

My Mum died last year and going through her things recently I came across a number of watches that she had accrued including what may or may not be a Breitling.

The back says it is a Navitimer with the face giving a model number of 1884.

As all the other watches are real and genuine I had presumed that in all likelihood this one would be too. However, I took it in to a Breitling shop yesterday to be sent off for a service but they just called to say it is a fake and to come and collect it as they would not be sending it off to Breitling. The reason they have given is that the face says "Japan Movt" and that Breitling have only ever made Swiss watches and therefore this cannot be real.

I like the watch regardless but it seems a bit odd to have one fake when other similar value watches have all been confirmed as genuine so would just like to research a bit more in to it before I dismiss it as a replica.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dianajh

Yes, they did. In several models: Pluton/Navitimer 3100, Jupiter Pilot. And there are more.

I think it would be much easier if you could provide some pictures of the watch.
