Post subject:  RESET TO ZERO BREITLING B-2 PROFESSIONAL AUTO CHRONO?

Greetings Breitling Aficionados!

I'm desperately seeking an answer to a problem that I'm having with my B-2 Professional Chrono (A42362). I've been searching the internet for for over an hour and cannot seem to find a video, manual or even a link to a website which explains how to reset the second hand on my chrono to zero. I think it needs to be recalibrated because when I push the "B" button on the lower right it's not resetting to 12 o'clock. I've seen a ton of videos on Youtube showing how to reset a quartz watch which, but much to my surprise, not a single reference for the B-2. I even tried the Breitling website and they no longer have a manual available. So frustrating! So I'm hoping that one of you kind folks who are familiar with my chrono can walk me through what would appear to be a rather simple process.

I'm grateful for your help on this.

Tom

On the Breitling website there is a manual for the Airwolf/Airwolf Raven, movement works in exactly the same way.

I wasn't aware of that. I'll give it a try now. Thank you so very much.

. zak57, Thanks for the suggestion, I gave it a try, but unfortunately it did not work. As I pulled up the Airwolf manual online, it occurred to me that you might be thinking my watch is the B-1 because they appear to be similar with both a digital and analog face. My watch, the B-2 Professional is has an automatic movement with no digital features. Therefore, there isn't a digital chrono mode to activate in order to recalibrate the chrono. On my model, pulling out the crown to position 2 will only adjust the minute/hour.

I got so excited when I saw your post thinking the Airwolf procedure may work, but it was quickly vanquished the moment I realized the Airwolf was digital. I think the watch may need to visit the Breitling workshop for a service to zero the chrono hand back to 12 o'clock. The odd thing is that every time I use the chrono, when stopping the second hand (pressing A), then reset (pressing B), the second hand never returns to the same position. Sometimes it resets itself at the 3 o'clock, sometimes 6:16, 8:30, etc... It never resets at 12 o'clock as it should, but it never seems to be stuck on any other particular time either. It's totally random.

Thanks very much for trying to help. It's greatly appreciated!

Ah sorry, my mistake! Sorry, if the normal reset procedures aren’t working on your B2 then as you rightly say it will need service attention.

Quite alright. You at least offered to help and for that I'm thankful. It at least confirmed what I had been thinking....time for a service. :-( Such seemingly minor or petty things like this absolutely drive me bonkers. I had my Rolex Submariner serviced recently and now it appears this watch is due also. There's simply no avoiding it. I have no idea what a Breitling charges for service these days. For my Submariner, Rolex charged about $800 USD. Given that my B-2 is an automatic chrono, I wouldn't be surprised if it cost more than what Rolex charged me.

Just stopped by my local Tornneau store and spoke with their Breitling rep. Looks like an $800 visit to the Breitling workshop. -sigh-

Yep no way to reset the hands on an auto unfortunately. Speak to some local repairers though, they may be able to tweak it for much cheaper (unless its due a service anyway, then you'll have to bite the bullet!)

You’re right. I had hoped it wouldn’t be necessary but alas, it’s time for a service so l’ll need to drop it off. Prices for a watch service has gone up exponentially in the last 10-15 years. I can remember when Rolex charged only $400 for complete service. Now it’s twice that amount (for a non-chrono model). I recently had my Submariner serviced and now it appears my Breitling is due as well...probably $800-1,000. I suppose it’s the price we must pay for the privilege of wearing a luxury timepiece.
