I just received my new (to me) Breitling Chronomat Ref. 81950 and was curious if there was a way to date the year it was manufactured based on the serial number. The serial is 2365. My guess it is is somewhere in the 1984/85 range?

I don't know of any serial number tables for Breitling watches in the Schneider era, but coincidentally I have just received a guarantee booklet for an 81950 and it is dated 1990. The serial (case) number, however, has quite a different format. Might help if you post photos of the watch, including the case back.

Here are some quick pictures I took with my phone. The serial number is very faint.

From what I can find, early Chronomats were made from 1984 to 1996. The earliest models were Reference 81950, with later models adopting the newer Breitling reference format. I've seen some with five digit serial numbers from the late 80s and early 90s, so I'm surmising that you've worked out the correct range for your watch.
