Post subject:  Necessary Winding?

Hello All,

Just wanted to ask, whether it is necessary to give your automatic an extra 40 wind's a week, if worn in a office or in a less active environment?
Just so, to keep the time in order.
I've only wound mine fully 3 times since owning it new, around 2 months now.
Originally it was running fast and now seems to be settling in.
This advice was given to me from a Breitling outlets, instore technician.

Kind regards,
jamirtha69

Yes a new watch needs time to settle. Periodic winding of your watch may be needed if you wear it in sedentary situations or keeping it on a watch winder will also help. Personally I don’t mind my watch running down and so long as it’s not left unwound for long periods (when the oils may settle and coagulate) then all should be well. Frequency of winding will depend on how the watch is worn and will vary from user to user.

Thank you Zak,

Would it also effect the way the date changes too,
as the date originally changed just after midnight.
My watch stopped 2 weeks ago, I wound it up 40 times and the date changed closer to midnight, but after 2 weeks it went up by + 4 of a minute, not knowing whether it will increase?

Kind regards,

That’s perfectly normal as things settle down
