Hello,

I would be grateful if someone could give me some valuable advise.
I purchased a brand new Breitling Seawolf 2 from my high street retailer, just under 2 weeks ago.
And it was wound 40 times as the retailer suggested and time and date were set too.
My concern is that, the seconds were accurate until the following day, which it went up from +6 to +16 within a week.
I called Breitling UK and they told me that, this should not happen as the COSC should be -4+6, and they asked me to restart the watch again after stopping, and wind again 40 times and set time
and date, outside the 20:00 - 03:00 Hrs, and monitor for another week.
And to send it back to Breitling to regulate, if problem persists?
After monitoring, it was still gaining +16-18, so I took it back to the retailer and they said the same and exchanged it for a new one.
So since Sunday just gone, I adjusted the time and date and fully wound 40 times and 3 days later it has gained +8 seconds.
I also noticed that watch No 1 changed date exactly at midnight and watch No 2 changes exactly a minute later after midnight?
I am not sure why this is happening and if someone could kindly explain.
Also the retailer said to bring it back if it happens again or would you send back to Breitling to regulate.
As the recent purchases have been both brand new, sealed, from a reputable jewellers, why would you want to send a brand new watch, back to the manufactures if it was COSC set?

Sorry for the whinging, just a worried new owner
Kind regards,

Date change is quite normal and will vary from watch to watch. New watches require a period of time to settle down in terms of accuracy depending on use and the wearer. I'd allow a period of two weeks before making a judgement.

Mistake here was exchanging the first watch when there was nothing wrong with it. At worst it needed a regulation which would have taken a couple of minutes, in all likelihood it needed nothing more than time to settle.

If the new watch is +8 after 3 days that is already within COSC specs, if it is +8 per day then it is only just outside of spec and will settle in to COSC in a couple of weeks.

No evidence of any problems with either watch, more evidence of sales staff not knowing anything and not educating customers.

Hello,

And thank you both kindly for the information.
Yesterday morning after 2 days of owning it,
it was 2 seconds above the +6 and last night it had gone up by 4 seconds above the +6.
This morning it had gone up by 6 seconds above the +6 and not sure what the seconds are likely to go up by in the next few days?
The date actually changed at midnight last night compared to the night before?
so I'll take your advice and hopefully it will settle in, in a few weeks time, I'll keep you informed.

Kind regards,
jamirtha69
