Post subject:  Transocean Chrono Won't Manually Wind

Hi All,

I took my Transocean out of my watch case and went to wind it and it seems like the crown is just not catching. The crown will spin but it doesn't make the normal winding sound and there is no tension when winding it. The rotor also seems to be looser than normal, however if I do move the watch on my wrist the rotor will wind the watch and it will start properly. Would this be a problem with the mainspring? If it is the mainspring would this be covered under the warranty? If it is another problem and you know what it is would that issue be covered under the warranty?

Thanks in advance for any help thrown my way.

It needs Breitling attention, obviously a disconnection in the winding mechanism. Unlikely to be the main spring if it winds automatically. Will be a warranty fix, assuming it's still under warranty and hasn't been the subject of impact or abuse.

I don't think it matters what the cause is, other than wilful damage or unfair wear and tear, it should be covered by warranty if your warranty is still valid.

And it's not the mainspring. Sounds like an issue in the keyless works, possibly the castle gear. As arcadelt notes, unless it is caused by the user warranty will cover it.

Edit, I have also merged your multiple threads, please don't double post.

Thank you all for the replies. Sorry about the double post, new to the forum and accidentally posted the first thread under the accessories section.

I will do a little research into the keyless works and the castle gear. This is my first complicated timepiece and am still learning exactly how they work. Does Breitling service their watches in the US or will it have to be sent back to Switzerland for an official Breitling repair?

It will be done at one of the US service centres.
