I had left my watch for a week while on vacation, with the stem pulled out to stop running, while I was gone. Upon returning,
I started to get the date and time right. Somehow I manged to get the date now where it changes at 5:30, not 12:00. Is there anything I can do, short of sending it in to get re-synced?

Looks like the date changing wheel is misplaced. You need a watchmaker to adjust the hands to match the position of the wheel.

Well that's the optimistic outcome. Generally speaking it occurs when date is changed or time is wound backwards during the 'danger zone' either side of midnight. If you are lucky you just caused the date wheel to skip, otherwise it could be a bent or broken tooth. Only way to be sure is to see if the date changes at the same time for all dates.

Whether broken or skipped it needs watchmaker attention.

I realize this is an old post and you have probably had the problem fixed by now. If not, run the hands clockwise around enough to verify the date changes at the same time for all dates. If it does, try to find a watchmaker to position the hands to change the date correctly. Otherwise, it is off to a factory service center. You didn't say what model you have. if it has a chrono module on top, that can be another problem entirely.

Good luck!
