Hi all,

New to forum but adore Breitling. I currently have a a two tone Crosswind (circa 2000) bought from a reputable dealer in Germany http://www.uhrenkapital.com/ Love the watch, which came with no box, but their guarantee and papers of authenticity. However, I'm noticing tiny flecks of gold flaking off crown when setting time, it generally gains four mins per week, so weekly adjustment. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it acceptable to have a $5000 high end watch that gains 30 secs or so a day and leaches gold plate from the crown from touch of fingers? Everything else about this timepiece impresses, but I'm thinking that as Uhrenkapital fully serviced this otherwise immaculate watch before sale it shouldn't be gaining time, let alone flaking gold plate off the crown...

Any comments most welcome.

Regards, Klumpster.

At a guess the dealer isn't authorised so a service likely just increased the cost of a Breitling service which is what it clearly now needs. Earlier crowns were plated and subject to wear, later ones were rolled gold and much more resilient. Without photos it's impossible to know if it had been replaced but I would get the watch serviced by Breitling and specifically me tion the crown.

Thanks for that Roffensian, guess I'll have to look at a trip to the Breitling service centre. Frustrating since I've had it less than a year.
