Hi guys. I've been lurking on these forums for a while now - never realised I wasn't the only one who lusted after these watches!! :D

Anyway, over the last few weeks my Wings Automatic has developed a strange quirk. When I put it on first thing in the morning, after about five minutes it stops for about 2-4 minutes. I've tried wearing it 24/7 and it loses 2-4 minutes over night.

I've tried not wearing at all and it keeps near perfect time (gains 1 sec/day). If I don't keep it wound it runs out of power after 41 hours.

I've had it nearly five years and it was last at the Breitling workshop in 2006.

Anyone heard of this quirk before? Anyone know how to fix it? I suspect it needs servicing, but does anyone have any idea how much that will cost?

Thanks for any help/advice/feedback. Here's a pic of my pride and joy. No one else on here ever seems to mention the Wings model!

Hi and welcome aboard.

If it physically stops for a period of time even though fully wound, then I'd suggest that a service would be in order, although if it was only done in 2006 I might've expected it to last a bit longer.....

If it lost 2 to 4 minutes over 24 hours while still running I'd suggest that it had become magnetised, but if it actually stops then it sounds like something mechanical that Breitling will need to fix for you.

Got to agree with Driver8. Five years is about right for a service, but odd that it was done in 2006 - I would expect more than 2 years between services, but clearly something mechanically wrong with it.

Wings is a nice model, a little underappreciated these days as it's not a chronograph, is not a current model, and of course isn't the size of a dinner plate, but I like it.

Oh, and welcome to the forums
