Back in July, I purchased a SA from a pawn shop in Orange CA that was posted on Ebay. I drove down and checked out the watch and paperwork before I bid on the watch. Everything looked great and I bid on the watch and won it. I was excited because I had been looking for a white faced SA for quite a while.
After having the watch for about 2 weeks, the crown would not stay pushed in. The watch worked fine, but the crown was broken. I called the pawn shop and they advised that I could send it back for repair. During this ordeal, I found out that the watch had a "non-authentic" Breitling crown put on by the pawn shops watch repairman before I purchased it. I was furious and they told me they would send it out to have the original crown put on. Once the watch was at the repair shop, they found out the gasket inside had been damaged from me trying to get the crown to stay in. After 5 weeks of waiting for the gasket to come from Switzerland, (which apparently was on backorder), they came back and said the original crown was damaged. The repair shop has had the watch about twice as long as I had it after purchase. I have asked for a refund at this point, but they have not gotten back to me yet.
The auction for the watch said "all items guaranteed auth." Correct me if I am wrong, but the crown counts here right? If I knew the crown was "fake" I would not have made the purchase.

Any thoughts on my rights here?

If it was labeled that way then it should have been authentic or a disclosure should have been made to you before you bid on it. Did you save the ad in case it gets ugly?

I agree with Mario. And, as it clearly is some major concerns with what the advertised and what you got I think you're entitled to reverse the deal (at least you would be entitled to do that in Sweden). An alternative is of course to let the pawn shop take all expenses necessary to get you a fully working, authentic, watch.

I did keep the ad, just in case. I have no dout that if this went as far as legal action, I would clearly win. That is the last thing I want to do, but I have kept all evidence of this issue. I spoke to the owner of the pawn shop today and he advised me there were other issues and it is at an Breitling AD for repair. They are taking care of the charges to get it right, it just sucks to pay close to 3k for a watch and only have it for 2 weeks before it goes in the shop for 2 months.
