Hello Everyone,
I am new to the forum and vintage Breitling. I have a few vintage Rolexes, but I am now really drawn to the vintage Navitimer 806s. I have been looking for them online (I know, risky) and I am way out of my depth and could really use some assistance from you experts in determining whether or not these watches are all original or "frankenwatches" (or fake!).
Here is my top contender. The seller states that this is a very early Navitimer 806, but I am concerned about several aspects I see in the photos. First, there is no serial number engraved inside of the caseback. Second, there is a crooked "806" stamped on the outside of the caseback. Has anyone seen this before?
Third, the bezel appears to have too few "beads" on it to be an early 806. Fourth, the movement is stamped "WOG," which I understand to mean it is a later movement from the late '50s and '60s (see
http://kurt-b.com/).
Any help you can provide in relation to these questions, or other issues concerning this watch, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Dave
