Im considering a really nice 7806 i found from a reputable dealer. They have assured me the dial is entirely original, but it has the straight wing logo that I understand was also used as a later service dial Is it possible the dial with the straight wing logo was original on the 7806? Perhaps in a later model? I know this is often the case for Rolex and Heuer and thus the collector designations MK... |

Straight wing = Breitling dial replaced during service after original dials were out of stock = an official Breitling piece but not the dial originally fitted on the watch |

how does this effect value? surely a vintage breitling with s service dial from the 80s still has value? |

I think it depends on who the buyer is. On one extreme, hardcore collectors aren't going to want replaced or re-lumed dials. So cut the value of the watch in half for them. On the other extreme are people that just want a nice watch to wear, and wouldn't even know to ask because its not important to them. I think for this buyer, they don't normally pay top price, because top price is driven by originality and rarity. So no specific answer for you, but clearly it can hit value 15-50% |

80% of the buyers out there would never even catch it. I don't think it would affect the value that much as it's still 100% Breitling just not 100% original. |
