I'm interested in buying this watch and wanted to know if all (or any) of the parts are original. To follow that question up, how difficult would it be to replace the bezel and slide rule?

Thanks!

Should they be the syringe hands? The movement looks good?

It’s a bon-lined dial so should be white stick hands.

It was described to be in working condition, including the chronograph. Do y'all think this is a good investment at just under $1k? Or will it be a money pit for restoration? I was planing to restore original/correct parts and keep the watch but can't afford to spend another 1k in restoration.

as said above, you will spend a lot of time and money finding a bezel and insert for this. It is not a great way to spend your time and efforts IMHO.

I think I can have all the parts for a grand total of ~$1300

I guess what I'm really asking is, which parts would need to be replaced to have it be original (aside from the bezel)? Is it just the hour and minute hands or all of them? This variation seems to be less common and relatively early, I'm having a hard time finding images of an exact match. With the white painted numeral dial, I've seen...

White and red sub-dial hands with different minute/hour hands (image 1)
or
All white stick hands (image 2)

None of which are on the earlier "no arrow between 5 and 6" dial. I'm confused.

script logo lume dials have dagger (evry early, pre 5xx.xxx typically), syringe (most) or candlestick (late) hands.
non-lume dials have baton hands.
and please do not forget the sliderule insert, almost impossible to find, refinished examples available are horrific

Thanks again Fred!

Anyone know the ballpark value of a 769 bezel?

I am getting a feeling that you are either hard headed or not getting it. If you can find the correct bezel it will take FOREVER and possibly cost more than the $900 the watch sold for.... If you did in fact buy it, it's going to be a longggggggggggg project to complete if you don't already have the parts in hand!!!!!!

I'm hard headed. I couldn't help myself, in it for the long haul I suppose. Please PM me if anyone has any of these parts for sale.

We all here are just trying to help. Most if not all of us have made some buys we wished later we hadn't and we just like to try to pass on advice to others in hopes they don't do the same.
Anyone with parts for these typically don't sell them!!! Like giving away a kidney!!

I totally get it and definitely appreciate the sage advice. Truth be told I bought the watch after hearing that the dial, case and movement were correct. I'm not in any sort of rush to piece this thing together and realize that I may ultimately end up punting it. It was an impulse buy because I simply love early vintage chronos.

You were right about the donor. That one from eBay sold for $959. I might have shot myself in the foot by posting it here
