I have seen this Chronomatic watch on a local trading site and would appreciate any comments re authenticity. Owner claims that the bezel is not original and was fitted by a Dutch watchmaker at some stage. My research shows that some original bezels looked like this one.

Any thoughts before I look to purchasing this watch. Thanks in advance.

Looks ok to me. Maybe he meant the bezel wasn't the original one that came on the watch but still could be the original style.

Thanks for that. Not too many of these around, but enough to compare.
My other Breitlings are manual wind and I just felt like owning an automatic. Any particular known issues with the model ?
Unfortunately movement photos are not available so I am taking a bit of a gamble at a reasonable price. So if no one picks up any obvious flaws from the 2 photos I have provided, I think I will own it.

no flaws I can see - as Paul says; this seems to be an original "M" bezel, that was mounted on the 2114 version ex works, but we see many of those on 2112s

Your assistance has been gratefully received. I knew I could get reliable answers from the experts in this forum.
I have pushed buy now on this Chronomatic and when it arrives, hopefully I can show some photos of my new purchase.
It will be a nice addition to my small collection which includes a nice 806 and a lovely old family heirloom, the 801.
Once again, thanks for your unbiased opinions which helped me make the purchase.

Thanks for your comments about my wonderful old Breitling 801. It is still the only one I have seen without numerals on the dial. The gold battens on the 801 make the dial look much less cluttered.
As discussed, I added to the collection last week by buying the 2114 Chronomatic with the light coloured dial. Interestingly, this appears as Breitlings first automatic and arguably one of the first automatics on the market..
Serial number of 1238xxxxx would date it to 1968 so it must be one of the very early releases as 1969 appears to be the official release date according to some sources.
So this Chronomatic joins the 801, the 806 and an Autavia 7763 as my favourite special watches. I wear one of them most days as I just love the size and appearance of these beautiful old classics.
