Post subject:  BREITLING CHRONO-MATIC LATE SIXTIES/EARLY SEVENTIES??

Good day, a year ago my father gave me his Breathing as a present. The watch has always been to his wirst as far as I can remember. Few weeks back I had an accident and further to my leg I badly hurt my breitling. I went to a shop but they did not have a clue about model or how to find the spare parts. I live in the UAE and they suggest me to send the watch to Switzerland which is something I not confident to do. The problem is that I'm not sure about model or year (my father could have bought the watch between 1969 and 1973...he is not sure). Anyone can help me in discovering more details about the watch? Moreover I need to find a crown, a glass (pretty hard the one...) and a set of hands.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Regards

Max

it is a model 7101 Pult Chrono-Matic - launched in 1972, so that sets the time frame qhe. your father could have bought it.

hands can be found quite easily, crystal is much harder as is the the correct crown, as both are unique to the model.

Do NOT send it to Breitling Switzerland - if money is no object, you could send it the the US Breitling vintage service at the Heists in Philadelphia, they might have the needed parts. Expensive, but they do a good job.

Our "go to" guy is Craig Bergsma of chronodeco.com, but I'm unsure if he's accepting new clients again, but worth a try.

It is a 2117, the 7101 is the hand wound versiĆ³n.

My suggestion would be to buy one of the cases off eBay for the crystal and crown - not sure what's wrong with you hands - and then find a watchmaker that can service vintage watches. Chronodeco in the USA is a great choice but if he is not accepting new customers I could provide you some names in the Uk too. I think buying parts off eBay and a watchmaker would be a more cost effective solution vs Breitlng official channels, if cost us an issue.

Thanks to everybody!. Actually cost is an issue so I'd be really interested to get those names in UK. I'm the meantime I'll have a look to eBay hoping to find what I need. Thanks again.

funny. we all missed that ;)

watch SHOULD have a bezel and probably had.

Dave's "get a complete case" suggestion is now even better ;)

Missing.

Fred - are 2117 and 7101 cases identical?

If so, this may do the trick. Best would be just to get a full new case and get your movement swapped into it, depending on how sentimental you are to the old case since it was your fathers. Keep your hands, dial, and caseback.

I have found this on the web.....and it does not have the bezel....which increase my confusion....but this one was advertised and apparently sold. Any idea?

I think I was writing that before the bezel topic came up!

So can you take the crown crystal and bezel from the one listed?
