Breitling Navitimer Cosmonaute with King Hussein of Jordan’s crown, dated 1965 Estimate 15 000 / 20 000 €

We are honored to announce our collaboration with the Breitling Manufacture for a world premiere auction dedicated exclusively to the brand with the winged B.

Being one of the last independent manufactures in the world, Breitling is also a favorite among aviation professionals but also racing drivers, divers, military forces and, of course, every watchmaking enthusiasts.

Founded in 1884 in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, by the visionary Léon Breitling, the eponymous brand quickly became a leader in technical watches. Quality, precision, robustness and reliability are the values guiding the Manufacture from its creation to modern days.

This heritage Breitling auction will be a unique chance for collectors all around the world to acquire exceptional timepieces including exclusive models of chronograph Breitling never auctioned before!

This exceptional auction “Breitling, a unique world” will take place in our Auction House at 6 Avenue Hoche the 22th of November 2017.

Please feel free to contact our expert, Didier Gottardini (author of Vintage Watch Collection: Breitling, Favre, 2013), for a free estimate of your timepieces, modern and ancient signed watches, pocket watches, chronograph clocks and small clocks, or objects related to Breitling watchmaking.

Our expert will travel both in France and abroad until October 2 (the closing date for the catalogue).

I recently asked a big guy in the business which impact the sale of Breitling would have on the value of my collection, his answer was

"Up massively......

The community respects independence. Watches made in *your time are already one generation closer to purity, in that context. If they sell the company again, it will make the older stuff even more respected."

Opinions about future value on Vintage Breitling watches in generel, in this respect . . . ???

No - I don't know him, but I obviously read in the mail, that he's the director & "expert"..... For what it's worth.

Are you familiar with the book Fred?
I am aware of it existence but no idea whether it is a useful reference or not.

As far as the affect on vintage Breitling resulting from the sale of the company goes I would expect any publicity of a luxury watch brand will obviously increase awareness and interest in past products.
Dedicated and specialist sales will do a lot more I would expect.

There was a clip regarding this on ****** 2 Fridays ago - the new 30 minute segment - their view is that vintage and modern Breitling collectors are the most divided of any watch brand - and rarely do the two Intersts intersect. I personally can't see how whatever happens to modern Breitling will impact vintage pricing any more than the general market trend for Chronos and the ever decreasing supply of older pieces as they are held in collectors hands.

The Navitimer 806 which illustrates the front cover of the book " Breitling by Gottardini and Guyon " looks new if you are a newbee ... but the dial is a service dial .
Most of the Chrono-Matic shown in this book are "put together" , using wrong datedisks and hands ...
For sure those two guys are real experts in ... making money , but not in selecting reference watches.

Ok - now I know which book it is, I haven't read it, but judged by the cover it's a joke, and if he's the expert who will travel both in France and abroad until October 2, then it's not looking good at all....!!!!!

Thanks Fred et al.
Just found images from it on Google. Not good. One to avoid.
