Hi,

I'm new to the forum and this would be my first post.

I recently inherited the below Navitimer, purchased back in 1967 by my grandfather, it comes complete with box/papers and original store receipt and warranty (sadly expired).
It left a couple of weeks back for Breitling for inspection / service.
Breitling were very kind to accept the work deemed necessary, for £1200. This didn't surprise me, however, what did surprise me was the length of time for the work to be completed, 1 year!
According to Breitling, new parts will have to be manufactured and thus the extended lead time.
I am pretty upset that i will have to wait such a length of time to enjoy the watch. Has anyone else had this experience?

word of advice
get it back now and send it to a regular watchmaker who will service the watch in 6 to 8 weeks keeping the original parts

Breitling replaces parts with non-original parts and destroys the originality and value

Thanks all, it all seems clear now.

The watch has been requested for a return. It will then be heading to a watchmaker.

Really looking forward to enjoying the watch...this year.
