its all original but condition leaves a bit to be desired
value ? , they've gone up quite a bit and $4.5K-6K USD in this condition would not surprise me

Thanks for that

Is it worth having it restored? Will the dial clean up or will that destroy any value in the watch

Any additional feed back would be welcome

in this case , difficult one
its the only service dial that I know of that closely resembles the originals (If you dont know what to look for you will never know its a service dial)

value will probably increase with the amount you have spent on restoration (if you let Mark Heist do it) so its up top you really
you will have a brand new great looking watch that is worth a bit more, but you've spent that money on restoration

your call
p.s. restoration will cost you approx $2400

Personally I'd just get it serviced, polish the crystal, maybe get the numbers in the bezel made black again. Hands might be good to get relumed if they're flakey. Should be able to get that done for less than $500. High magnification photos make everything not pristine look horrible - you'd probably be very happy with it on your wrist.

Do you think the dial could be cleaned? Or is it a non starter?

If you get it serviced they will clean the dial but it's unlikely to remove many of the stains. It's generally coming from the metal behind the dial, or inbedded into the clear lacquer coating. Sometimes there is residue on the dial that does clean off.
