V191 is a lot rarer, though does not seem to make a difference in realistically achievable sales prices ?

Thanks Fred. So the v72's and Venus versions of the 785's are seen all through their production?

earliest user manual I have is for a Chronomat 769 (and a very early paper model of the Chronomat), seems to be early/mid 40s

This is an exert from a catalogue circa 1940. While not dealing with the Datora it outlines the basic usage.

I'd assume most catalogues had an instruction page of this sort.

Interestingly "onthedash" has a 1945 catalogue which shows what looks like Heuer's version of the Datora. If anyone can
translate that would be great.

Thanks, that's an awesome find and makes me think that there should be a 785 manual too somewhere for that period.

Here's a 40's ref 178 manual off the bay that could come in handy on the 785's

took me some time to do the promised translation, interesting to see the warning on that user manual:

"Due to technical considerations the calendar functions should not be set between 10PM and 02AM"

here it is:

Btw just wondering if there is any correlation in the 785's month and number of days for that month? Will know that by the end of the month though.:)
I know Rolex modified the v72c movement in their moonphase watches to handle that but guess their triple date movements were not modified. Also any idea if the Breitling moonphase triple date movement was modified to handle that?

San, I translated it, your question is answered right in the manual above.

Thanks Fred, on my iPhone so didn't catch that. So to recap, it means that say date is April 30, it will advance to April 31. We then have to manually move the month to May by pressing the pin at 10 and move the day to 1st again by pressing the pin at 7. Offcourse no change in day of week since those advance correctly anyway.

Oops - unintentional, but doubtless a sign of good breeding

Does give me an excuse to use this site though (which I have been tempted to do many, many times):
