Somebody can help to indentify this model.
I checked the models on the website but could find exactly the same one.

There are several similar looking models - are there any numbers on the back of it - that might help narrow it down - if not I'll dig the book out and see what matches up best. My first guess would be a 50s piece, maybe late 40s

Pictures are not so sharp, but these are the best I have taken from what the guy has send to me.

Any idea also what it is worth?

Thanks

Kurt

I'll check the guide and let you know what I come up with. The stamping on the caseback looks a little modern to be at first glance, but I'm not comparing it to anything at the moment so don't quote me.

The bigger issue for me is te two screws that are holding the movement in - seems to suggest that the case is too big for the movement, and the screws look totally out of place - again I'll check the guide, but it would be enough to scare me off.

Well, the serial number is right - it translates to a very early 1950 (less than 300 watches into the year), but I can't find the reference number (280 20) anywhere.

There's a 1954 version of this watch in the guide, but a chrograph version (subdials at 3 and 9) listed at $2,500 - $2,800.

Bottom line, it's what appears to be a frankenwatch - movement, case and caseback don't seem to have started life together - leave it alone.

If you like the moonphase watches keep an eye on eBay, they come up fairly regularly as do the day / month watches - German slightly less common than French. Just be careful as there are a lot of watches (South American sourced in particular) of dubious provenance - they look right, but are likely assembled from parts.

There are also some legitimate vintage dealers on the web - less choice and sometimes worse prices, but a lot more piece of mind.
