Hallo, what do you think about this dial ?

first photo ex: Knirim, British Military Timepieces, Bottrop 2009, S. 735.

Looks fine to me. I've seen a few of these before. Strange two sub register version of the three register Valjoux 71/72.

I got an education on this a few months ago with one on here.

My question was not about the watch this is truly undeniable, my question was about the "special" Breitling signatur on the dial.

I have one of these with exactly the same script, I have handled another one as well.
No one really knows that much about them.

I've seen two dial types for these Canadian Breitlings, a sterile version and this one with the
off-angle script. Both the dials are redials probably done by the Canadian military or contracted out by them.

It was certainly common practice by the UK military to redial their watches to their own specification, as seen
by the Lemania HS9 chronographs and Rolex milsubs.

It would certainly be reasonable to assume that the Canadian Military did the same to their watches including the Rodania
and the Omega version of this watch.

I would say that this dial was redialed by the military and issued with the watch like this and as such is correct for the watch.

As a final thought, when I did the my digging through the military watch resource archive this piece of information also came to light:

2.1 WRIST WATCH VERIFICATION
1. Based upon recent direction from DGNS, all members in possession of wrist watch 6645-21-802-1267, specifically with the markings "RCN" or "RCAF", are to have the watch inspected to ensure that it does not contain radioactive material above the allowable limits. While there is no known immediate threat to one's health, as a precautionary measure we are conducting a full review of all subject watches.

2. An initial verification was conducted, however, the records used were not all inclusive and some members may have been missed. Therefore, during the Jul 00 time frame, we are requesting that all holders of subject, who were not covered under the initial verification, return their watch to CFSU(O) Clothing Stores (basement of 101 Col By) for verification. The watches will not be verified on site, but will be verified at a later date, and if found to be below allowable limits returned to the member. For those watches found to have a radioactive count above the allowable limits, a replacement watch will be demanded, if requested by the member.

It is also possible that this watch was redialed by them for this reason and the military updated the sterile dials with the Breitling logo at that time.

The article in the Knirim book is the only consistent information I've read
about the Canadian military watches to date. Not much hard documentation about them seems
to have surfaced.
