My father-in-law gave me this watch about a month ago because he knows I'm "into" watches and he hasn't worn it since the 70's - wonderful gesture in his part. Looks to be a Model 1451, 1973.

Looks like it lost it's original strap or bracelet somewhere. Made in China - can't be original. I wonder what is?

Took it in to get serviced and had the crystal replaced, then got a new 19mm deBeer Europa Baby Croco brown strap

I was wondering. Does anyone know the original crystal and strap/bracelet types for this model. Any info would be appreciated --- And THANK YOU to my father-in-law for this thoughtful gift.

Very nice watch.

Original crystal would have been a plexi / plastic crystal, strap would likely have been a fairly straightforward leather strap with no padding. I think that there was a bracelet option, but sorry, don't have details. There are 1969 and 1970s catalogues on this site to give you some idea - http://www.breitlingsource.com/chronologs_books.shtml

Very nice~! I assume the difference between 1450 and 1451 is the plating?

Yeah, fairly typical - think 2000 / 2002 / 2004

As I see it...none what so ever :D

Quick question; I have gotten a small scratch on my Navitimer crystal (plexi). Can anyone recommend a way to take it away? It is not deep or big, just very annoying...

Look for a product called Polywatch - comes in small tubes and works fine.

Even I think that's excessive.

I also hate to see watches thrown into boxes / cases like that. The only pieces that I have in boxes are the ones that are waiting for my attempts to repair them (and after that process they generally look a lot worse :shock: )

+1. Big collections are fine, but there's gotta be some variety. That Seiko collection is just crazy...
