Too many similar ones of these to guess off the top of my head - I'll check the books this evening.

Are there any numbers on the caseback (inside or outside) - probably not I'm guessing.

And is there a shield or any number under the balance cock?

Its a Unitas movement. Watch is most likely a fake. Craig

If it's Unitas then it's definitely a fake (and I feel better not recognising it).

No Unitas movements in genuine Breitlings that I am aware of.

Thanks for your help and replies. It is very interesting but quite strange. My grandfather bought it in a jewelry in 1971. Is it possible that fake ones reach jewelries?

Well, as far as the numbers are concerned:

There are the following numbers on the caseback

- Outside: Breitling 1902
- Inside: 725520, and there are 2 manually engraved numbers as well: ET1212757 13286, and another one below WUP T218

Definitely possible that jewellers get taken in by these - it's not really like modern fakes in that there are definitive reference tables to compare against - especially back in the early 70s.

The inside marks are watchmaker servicing marks, the outer ones are for the model number (1902) and a 1955 serial number - using Breitling's scheme.

I'll check the books for a 1902 reference and see if I can find a movement match if I find it, and I'll also see if I can find any evidence of Unitas movements.

Well, I checked my guides and can't find a 1902, although I did find some 19xx references in non chrono Breitlings.

The killer is that I can't find any evidence of any Unitas movements as I suspected. At best this will be a Breitling with a non original replacement movement and the fact that the movement has been faked with Breitling is a bad sign that the rest of the watch has been similarly made up. Sorry!

Thanks a lot for having spent time on that. It's ok, I didn't expect to sell it anyway but wear it as it was the watch of my grand-father.
Do you know whether it is possible to replace the dial as this one is quite damaged. The diameter is 32mm. I know a jeweler who could do that for me but I need to find the spare part somewhere...

It's definitely possible to get it redialled - a reputable watchmaker won't put a Breitling dial on it, but as a wearer watch that doesn't matter anyway. There are plenty of dials around, get your watchmaker to tell you exactly what you need to look for size wise (swiss movements are measured in lignes, and you'll also need to find one with the feet in the right places) and look for one you like.

Alternately you may be able to get this one refinished.
