All,

Could any of you Vintage experts help me determine if this watch is for real and if so how old is it? What movement is it? Doesnt look like a Felsa....

Many Thanks

You lot are doing it to me again with these weird non chrono movements - that's three in one day!!!

I think the dial is original - not a great photo but the B looks a bit thick. That's probably just because it's applied / embossed if I remember correctly. Serial number dates it to 1958, and that's OK for a transocean and the hands look good. Not an expert on the model but I think the case / caseback is OK.

The movement, well again we are on shaky ground, but I think that they are Felsa based movements, but Breitling 'tweaked' them I believe.

Thanks Roff, well you did say you wanted to improve your vintage knowledge....

The thick B may be due to the bad pic also, but what I worry about is the lack of the Felsa "F" on the movement and any markings on the caseback other than the serial which is on the inside. Otherwise it seems to be in a very good condition

Not sure where the shield should be on these - it could be under the rotor.

I'm OK with the serial number being on the inside of the caseback, and in these early models I believe that the caseback was blank on the outside.

I've seen these movements too... everything does look okay to me too...

Where's Paul when you need him? Looks like he's got his work cut out for him when he signs on...

If you're talking about the "F" shield, I've seen it usually under the rotor...

The shield is the maker's mark - the letter / character inside varies by make.

In terms of being under the rotor - that kinda depends on which way up you hold the watch

The case back has either been over polished or is very light from wear. It's hard to tell from the pic.
Should have the proper Transocean engraving on the back for this year.
