It says a 1st generation, does that mean it is a 1952?

First generation means black on black, rice bezel, original hand design, and to be strictly accurate no red on the sliderule.

That will be 1952 until 1960ish. You can't put a solid end date because from 1959 until around 1963 there was transition where there were some like this and some with some indicators of second generation - white subs, more usual bezel, red elements to the sliderule, etc.

This one dates to 1960.
