Hiya.

My first post here.

I am looking to purchase a nice Breitling watch from 1961 to add to my collection. Can you please suggest something, not necessarily for sale at the moment. but which I can look out for in the future. Pics would be very useful.

Many thanks.

Welcome to BreitlingSource!

I guess it depends what you are looking for, but the classic has to be the 806 Navitimer. 1961 was during the transition so there will be all black and black with white subdials around during that year.

Everything that you could possibly want to know about the 806, and tons of pictures at www.navitimer.net and http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=25057

Well yes Sharky, that would be my preference, but a beaded bezel, all black subs, all black sliderule was getting pretty uncommon by 1961.

Well since you seem to be focused in on the date versus the style of watch, just find a Breitling that falls within these serial numbers, 933064-947803 for chronographs, and you'll have one from 1961. Non-chrono models are 917614 - 971814.
