Hi there,

I own a Breitling Vintage Pocket Watch and I would like to read/get some info and commercial value about it.

The pictures are:

In the inner case it says:

"Breitling Watch Ltd"
"17 jewels"
"Unadjusted Swiss"
"WOG"
"Nickel Chromium"

and the serial number "1067128"

Best Regards.

I haven't seen one of these before. I can tell you the pocket chronographs, which this is, use the same serial number range as the regular Breitling chronographs so this one dates to 1966. It uses the Valjoux 5 17 jewel movement. I've got two of the military versions with the black dials. Is yours in a stainless steel case or a gold case? Hard to tell from the pictures. Can you take a close up pic of the dial where it says Breitling? I'd be interested in seeing to make sure it's not just a recased military movement. The only Breitling more expensive in 1966 was a solid gold 806 Navitimer so these watches were put together well to take the extremes of cold and heat. I've attached a pic.

He is in a stainless steel case.
I know the existance of more 3 of these pocket watches in the Portuguese Navy. 2 in working conditions and another that appears to be canibalised for those two. It misses some of the dented wheels.

These are the pics you requested:

I really like these pieces - but then I like pocket watches in general. I can never understand why these pieces seem to be so under appreciated in the market place - very nice watch!

There's not much on Breitling pocket watches I'm afraid.

In terms of pocket watches in general, there is a lot out there, not all good. Are you looking specifically at Swiss pocket watches or 20th century, or more widely?

I'm interessed in swiss pocket watches in general, but in Omega, Breitling and Longines in particular.

OK, don't know of much on those specifically - if you can pick up brochures / catalogues then they are invaluable and they show up on eBay occasionally.

You definitely want to pick up the Complete Price Guide to Watches by Engle, Gilbert and Shugart. This year is the 29th edition. It's not perfect, and some of the pictures are less than wonderful, but it's the best out there in terms of pricing.

I also like 'Pendant and Pocket Watches 1500 - 1950' by C. Jeanenne Bell.

Other than that, keep an eye out on eBay, Amazon, etc and buy what takes your fancy. Just be aware that a lot of the US published books have a heavy bias towards American watches.

There are also a lot of pocket watches on eBay and some better ones on Chrono24. Some of them are garbage (eBay in particular), but it's a good way to learn what they look like.

Not jealous at all.

Apart from the fact that the links you posted didn't come through correctly (see your posted pictures as evidence), your forum is very closely liked to your online store and you have previously been warned about promoting your commercial venture here.

I would love for you to contribute more to the forums here, you clearly have an extensive list of connections and have had some truly spectacular watches for sale. However you have also had a number of watches with dubious provenance and that sticks in people's memories.

There have been many links to various watches that you have had for sale throughout the forum over the months and you don't need to promote your site here - trust me people who know Breitlings know that your site is there and know what you have - good and bad.

Just contribute to the community without the self promotion and you'll be a very valuable addition.
