Now that i've gotten a vintage 60's chronomatic... (still waiting for my co-pilot  )

I want everyone's opinion on this one... to see what I can do with this...

From a newbie's opinion, I don't know too much about these early chronomats but this looks like a fantastic (but costly)fixer-upper...

Of course some extensive work would have to be done, but other than that, does everything look right on the watch? I'm a bit concerned about the minute hand too... the whole hand is hollow... :(

It'll take a lot of work to get that presentable again. There's rust on the movement and that looks like corrosion around the edge of the dial. The case is well worn as is the back cover and the pushers and crown look like replacements. It would have to be cheap and I'd have to have some better replacement parts available before I'd be interested in that one. I think you could easily spend $500-$1000 (depending on who does it) getting that back up to snuff so factor that into the purchase price.

I agree - and I'm not sure that you would end up with one that was substantially cheaper than just buying one in better condition.

The minute hand looks original, but damaged.

If the minute hand is damaged like that, would it be impossible to fix then Roff?

What particular year is this one anyway? That dial looks awesome~!

You would replace rather than repair, there are some around that a watchmaker could likely source.

Serial number dates this one to 1945 - the commonest early date because there weren't many produced in the war years.
