Hi, am newbie here.
I would to seek some advice on the watch that I have had for over 40 years.
Back in the 60's, I managed a record shop in a small sububan town just outside London.
Acros the street from my shop was a jewellers and I became friendly with the old jewish guy who owned the shop. We would often go to the pub at lunchtime for a beer or two.
Anyway and as far I remember I often admired his watch and just before he sold the shop and business, he gave me his watch that I admired so much.
It wasn't until very recently that I remembered the watch and got it out and had a look at it and after winding, it started immediately!
So to my question, is it a real Breitling and is it worth anything?
The back is stamped "Waterproof, Antimagnetic and shockproof", hallmarked 18kt 0.75 gold, Serial No.648783 and below "777".

tried to upload with this message, but no luck.
So here's the link to Photobucket, just hope it works.

If anyone can help, I would be very appreciative.

And while I can help you with the pics, I'm no vintage expert, so I can't help you with the watch! But I'm sure someone who can will be along soon.

Nice ref 777 dating to 1946. A new crystal and a little polish would have this baby looking fine. Nice watch!

Thanks for the info Paul, I had no idea it was that old.
Anyone have any idea how much it's worth and where I should sell it?

I have some thoughts on value, but I would rather not say because I may be interested in buying it. I don't believe that it's fair that I should give you a value and then offer to buy it - you should have the confidence that you have an independent valuation.

Paul can give you a good idea.

If I (or another member) don't buy it then eBay is likely your best bet. Dealers will happily take it off your hands but won't give you such a good price. You will likely see the price subdued slightly by the need for a service and the minor cosmetic needs, but you likely wouldn't get your money back if you paid to have that done yourself.

It's a nice watch - and welcome to BreitlingSource!

As for value, I'd say $1200 -$2400. In it's current condition and unserviced, on the lower side of that range. With a little TLC and a service on the higher side. I think it's a rose gold model based upon a few others I found online.

Well thank you guys for providing so much info so quickly.

So armed with such info, I have to ask the question "Who's interested?"

When I started this quest, it was to find out if it was fake or not, and now it's up for sale.

Just a thought: am I allowed to offer items for sale on this forum?
No doubt someone will tell me, if that's not the case.

\thanks again guys
